Warmth & Comfort - Quilts for Dialysis Patients

One of Meredith’s goals was to provide blankets to patients on dialysis. So many times she shared stories of how cold she got, (freezing and shivering to death was just some of the terms she used).

When battling kidney failure, your red blood cells could begin to run low. With low red blood cells, your body does not get the oxygen that it needs. You can feel weak and then the cold sets in. Many dialysis patients struggle with anemia, and they will feel cold during and after dialysis.

Under the heading of everything happens for a reason, the foundation received a donation one day from a women, Mrs. Hannekin, who hand-makes quilts. This turned out to be an on-going donation.

Today the foundation offers quilts, free of charge, to dialysis patients, where-ever they may be. We have quilts for adults and children.

For anyone that makes or crochets quilts and blankets, we will gladly accept donations.
